We are located in the Vanagoor Estate, deep within the Bisle Ghat region—one of the world's 18 biodiversity hotspots. For our guests, this means that the "entertainment" isn't on a screen; it's in the trees.

The Avian Residents

Birding at KaatiKaadu is unique because it is "Non-Guided." We don't march you around on a schedule. We encourage you to grab a coffee, find a quiet spot on your balcony, and let the forest come to you.

Our estate is a playground for endemic species. Keep your eyes peeled for:

• The Malabar Grey Hornbill: The icon of the Ghats.
• Malabar Parakeets: Look for flashes of blue and green darting through the canopy.
• Woodpeckers: You will likely hear their rhythmic tapping before you see them.
• Bulbuls: The soundtrack of the morning.

Not Just Birds: Meet Our "Frog Pals"

The biodiversity here isn't limited to the sky. If you look down, especially near the stream or during the wetter months, you enter the world of amphibians.

We take great pride in documenting our "Frog Pals." The ecosystem around our stream is home to species like the Granular Cricket Frog (Fejervarya granosa). These tiny indicators of a healthy environment are a treat for macro photographers.

Become a "Citizen Scientist"

We believe that every guest is an explorer. In a sophisticated move to expand our knowledge of the estate, we run a Crowdsourced Research initiative.

Here is the challenge: If you capture a high-quality photograph of a species (bird, frog, or insect) that we haven't documented yet, share it with us! We love turning our guests into citizen scientists. Your photo could be featured on our "Nature Log" or social media as the "Find of the Month".

• Best Time for Birding: Early morning (6:30 AM - 8:30 AM).
• Best Time for Frogs: Post-sunset near the stream.
• Gear: A 300mm+ lens is recommended for birds. A macro lens is essential for the frogs and insects.
